Rice Confirmed

For all the blather, Condi Rice has been confirmed as the next Secretary of State 85-13.

Here are the senators voting against:

Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia
Jack Reed of Rhode Island
Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts
Mark Dayton of Minnesota
Barbara Boxer of California
John Kerry of Massachusetts
Carl Levin of Michigan
Tom Harkin of Iowa
Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey
Evan Bayh of Indiana
Daniel Akaka of Hawaii
Richard Durbin of Illinois
Jim Jeffords of Vermont

Democrats all save for Jeffords the ‘independent.’ The only real surprise is Evan Bayh who’s often portrayed as less extreme than the others on the list. It’s also instructive that Hillary Clinton - nobody’s fool - voted to confirm.
